Research Institution:
Helmholtz Institute Erlangen-Nürnberg for Renewable Energy (HI ERN), Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH (FZJ)
Introduction
Dr. Ian Marius Peters holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg and has 20 years of experience in photovoltaic (PV) research. He has published over 300 articles on sustainable energy systems, renewable energy, AI in energy, cost modeling, photovoltaics, and solar power systems. His career includes roles at Fraunhofer ISE, SERIS, and MIT.
Currently, he leads the High Throughput Characterization and Modelling for PV group at the Helmholtz Institute Erlangen-Nürnberg for Renewable Energy (HI-ERN). Dr. Peters received the 2021 Hamakawa Award and a 2023 ERC Consolidator Grant for his work on PV energy conversion and recycling of PV modules. He will contribute to Solar TAP with his expertise in photovoltaics, solar power systems, cost modeling, and PV module recycling.
Solar TAP Project
Contribution to Solar TAP:
Dr. Ian Marius Peters will join the Solar TAP project with his expertise in the fundamentals of photovoltaics, development of solar power systems, solar cell cost modeling, device modeling, and PV module recycling.
Uniqueness of Solar TAP:
Solar TAP is uniquely positioned to drive the future of renewable energy through its focus on interdisciplinary research and development. By bridging the gap between fundamental science and commercial application, it enables the creation of robust, next-generation solar technologies that are both efficient and sustainable.
