Introduction

Prof. Dr. Carsten Rockstuhl has been contributing to the development of nanophotonics for over twenty years. He focuses on exploring light-matter interactions out of intellectual curiosity and a deep desire to develop applications based on these insights. Light management in solar cells is a prime example of these contributions.

His contribution to the Solar TAP project revolves around the efforts to establish a digital twin for solar cells, with a particular focus on their photonic properties. This initiative aims to create a fully differentiable description of solar cells, allowing for an optimization across all degrees of freedom.
