Introduction
Introduction
Prof. Dr. Christoph J. Brabec received his Ph.D. in 1995 from Linz University, Austria. After a postdoc period under Serdar Sariciftci and Alan Heeger, he joined the SIEMENS research labs as a project leader in 2001, Konarka in 2004 as CTO, Erlangen University as a full professor in 2009, the ZAE Bayern network as scientific director and board member in 2010, the Interdisciplinary Center for Nanostructured Films as spokesman in 2013, an honorary professor on time at the University of Groningen from 2018 to 2023, and became director at Forschungszentrum Jülich (IET-2) in 2018.
His research spans all aspects of photovoltaics, focusing on emerging technologies and solution-processed semiconductors. He has a robust publication record with over 1000 articles, including more than 800 peer-reviewed papers and 100 patents. His work has earned him recognition as a “Highly Cited Researcher” for eleven consecutive years. Since 2018, he has been building a research group on the topic of materials and device discovery, which has taken autonomous materials and device acceleration platforms (AMADAP) into operation. His current projects include extensive work on SolarTAP, aiming to harness innovative technologies for sustainable energy solutions.
Solar TAP Project
Contribution to Solar TAP:
Prof. Dr. Brabec will participate to the Solar TAP initiative, by coordinating the project and leading the development of printed emerging PV prototypes at the MW level. His extensive expertise in photovoltaics, as well as his industrial and academic experience, is pivotal in driving the project’s goals and accelerating innovation transfer.
Uniqueness of Solar TAP:
He believes that Solar TAP’s innovative, interdisciplinary approach and focus on scalable photovoltaic solutions uniquely position it to revolutionize both the industry and academic research, making a significant impact.
