Empowering Industry through Solar TAP Slot-Die Coating Workshops
HySprint offers Hands-On Transfer
HySPRINT regularly offers slot-die training and workshops to not only educational institutes but also industrial companies.
Cooperating closely with our industry partner FOM Technologies, our slot-die coating workshops give new users a hands-on introduction to all elements of precise, continuous and scalable halide perovskite thin-film deposition through sheet-to-sheet slot-die coating.
Experienced users can also enhance their skills, address knowledge gaps, and discuss their most pressing challenges with world-class instructors in these comprehensive training sessions.
Solar TAP conceptualise and customize the workshops based on the requirements of participants including evaluating different inks or material systems, substrates, and processing parameters.

Project details
Key Achievements
Five customized slot-die coating workshops were delivered, four of which were successfully conducted with industrial customers, providing hands-on training focused on adapting key coating parameters to meet real production needs. At the same time, industrial partnerships were strengthened through collaboration with FOM Technologies, positioning the HySPRINT Innovation Lab as a reference site for equipment testing and demonstration.
Advanced slot-die coating expertise was disseminated across academic and industrial communities by building on Solar TAP’s baseline activities and offering workshops on a daily-fee basis to provide technical support. This enabled tailored process development, directly addressing live industrial challenges and connecting Solar TAP’s research infrastructure with real-world manufacturing requirements. Overall, these efforts accelerated industry readiness for scaling up emerging photovoltaic technologies by reducing barriers to cutting-edge, scalable coating techniques and transforming laboratories into innovation hubs.
Linking Science and Industry
Through these workshops, Solar TAP has effectively lowered the barrier for industrial access to cutting-edge coating technologies. Industries brought live process challenges into the lab, allowing researchers to tailor workshops around real technical hurdles – transforming labs into application-driven innovation hubs. This direct and flexible model embodies the Solar TAP vision: not just publishing discoveries, but empowering companies to apply them immediately.
Future Outlook
The next goal of this project is to further strengthen collaboration with both industries and research institutes by actively engaging them in our initiatives. We aim to provide continuous support by addressing their technical and scientific challenges, offering tailored solutions that align with their specific needs. Through our workshops, hands-on training, and customized problem-solving sessions, we will help industries optimize their processes, improve material performance, and enhance scalability. Additionally, we plan to expand our research partnerships, fostering innovation and knowledge exchange between academia and industry. This ongoing engagement will ensure that our expertise in thin-film technologies continues to drive advancements and practical applications in real-world scenarios.
