Solar TAP Collaboration Models

Solar TAP offers four structured collaboration models designed to enable efficient partnerships with industry and research stakeholders – from early exploration to application-driven development.

OIA

Open Innovation Activities (OIA)

Foundational R&D:

Cross-institutional projects that define shared standards, benchmarking tools, and reference systems for emerging PV technologies. These activities provide a common framework for long-term collaboration.

EIA

Exploratory Innovation Activities (EIA)

Fast-track pilots:

Low-barrier, bilateral projects that can be launched within days. They enable rapid validation, prototyping, or screening and often serve as entry points for longer-term collaborations.

PPP

Private-Public Partnership (PPP)

Confidential R&D:

Individually negotiated contract research projects with full intellectual property protection and exclusive access to Helmholtz infrastructure and expertise.

PFR

Publicly Funded Research (PFR)

Strategic consortia:

Collaborative research projects supported by national or European funding programs. These initiatives address complex challenges and foster sustainable industry–research cooperation.
